Carey Hardin is an associate professor of Media, Journalism and film, and Global and intercultural Studies at Miami University in Ohio and an adjunct associate professor of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Notre Dame. She holds a Ph.D. in communication and cultural studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a B.A. in mathematics. She has worked as a researcher, educator, and consultant for over 15 years. Her research centers on intersections of culture, economy, and technology.
She is the author of Capturing Finance: Arbitrage and Social Domination from Duke University Press. Her scholarly work has appeared in Cultural Studies, American Quarterly, Journal of Cultural Economy, and the Journal of Fandom Studies.
Carey has trained entrepreneurs, data scientists, public figures, and business executives in effective presentations, conflict communication, team building, and communicating across socio-cultural divides. Carey specializes in data storytelling, audience analysis, leadership communication, and alliance building.
